The Spotlight offers a professional curriculum for students who wish to learn and experience the joy of dance, and all the rewards that dance training provides for the development of the human body and spirit. We strive to achieve, through the discipline and rigors of dance training, a respectful and joyful environment for all our students as they pursue their goals in dance and in life.

Summer Programs 2010

Our summer workshops are designed to introduce new students to dance classes and to provide seasoned dancers enhanced training. Enjoy exceptional instruction by professional teachers in a motivational environment. All our programs are taught using age-appropriate movement and music in a controlled class size to ensure positive experiences and personal attention. We invite you to discover the rewards of dance training in one of our summer classes designed just for you. Families enrolling two or more children, or students participating in two or more courses receive a 10% discount. A printable brochure and registration form is available here.

butterfly ballet

Watch your toddler evolve as she discovers the world of music and movement. Miss Adonica will captivate the mind of your preschooler with four lessons in creative play, music narrative, rhythm builders, and tumbling basics. Learn a simple, follow-along routine to present on stage during The Spotlight annual spring recital. After our demonstration, caterpillars will earn their butterfly wings. Our annual recital is scheduled for the first weekend in May. Class meets Friday evenings at our Corning studio and Tuesday mornings at our Creston studio. For dancers 2.5 to 5 years in age. Perfect for siblings eager to dance.
Limited enrollment. $40 participation fee.

one-by-one

creston studio

Private coaching for dancers who enjoy performing. Students receive personal direction polishing previous skills and introducing new material. They experience individual guidance to achieve suitable goals. Participants rehearse twice weekly for thirty minutes at a time during this five-week private training course. At the conclusion of their study, dancers perform the annual One-By-One Exhibition, scheduled for Friday, June 4. First come first serve.
By appointment only. $150 private or $90/student semi-private fee.

spirit camp

Experience the energy and thrills of high kicks and pom-poms. Explore team-building through cheerleading stunts and get funky with hip hop tricks. Enhance flexibility and coordination with gymnastic skills and easy-to-follow dance combinations. Our four-day program prepares us for a fun end-of-the-month performance on stage with the One-By-One Showcase scheduled for Friday, June 4. For dancers ages 6 to 10 years old. Limited enrollment.
Registration deadline: Monday, April 26.
$80 participation fee (includes uniform purchase)

musical theatre

Our business is show business. Students are exposed to a variety of dance steps from the broadway stage and silver screen. Explore the energetic style of classic jazz made famous by top artists in the industry. Share the fun with familiar music while nurturing technique, flexibility, and coordination. At the end of the program, students are invited to perform in exhibition during our One-By-One Showcase scheduled for Friday, June 4. Class meets Tuesday evenings at our Creston studio. For students ages 8 to 14 years.
Controlled class size. $35.00 participation fee.

kid moves

An inspiration to the performing arts. Miss Adonica uses her magic to motivate your preschooler. This introductory class incorporates basic ballet fundamentals, creative movement, and preliminary tumbling skills that instill a passion for movement and an expression of imaginative energy. Students explore motor skills as well as participate in creative dances using props and music narratives. An exploratory course for children ages 2.5 to 5 years. Join us mornings in Corning or evenings in Creston.
Controlled class size. $35.00 participation fee.

rumble tumble

Dancers = Athletes. A program created for students to study the athleticism of dance. Participants enhance gymnastic progressions, target unpolished skills, and expand control, agility, and consistency. Students develop flexibility, strength, and stamina by combining power positions such as headstands or handstands with tumble passes such as cartwheels or handsprings. All levels. Class meets every morning at our Corning location or every evening at our Creston location.
Class size limited. $40 participation fee.

mission audition

5-6-7-8! Young dancers are exposed to diverse methods of auditioning. Each class opens with a different genre of dance and invites students to participate in a mock audition at the conclusion. Through discussion, example, and role-play, students learn the skills necessary to prepare themselves for successful auditions and try-outs. From headshots to resumes to wardrobes, dancers explore the entire auditioning process. For dancers ages 8 to 14 years.
Class size limited. $40 participation fee.

state fair tumbling

Join the Spotlight State Fair Tumbling Team. Let us enhance your gymnastic progressions during a one-month developmental course and reward you with a Saturday at the Iowa State Fair. We will target the required elements of the tumbling meet and expand your control and consistency. Learn how to set personal goals and how to achieve and foster your goals. Our team practices twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays, concluding with the Iowa State Fair Tumbling Meet, scheduled for Saturday morning, August 21.
$80.00 participation fee (includes the Iowa State Fair Competition fee.)
